We welcome visitors whether or not they have played croquet before. All you need is a pair of flat-soled shoes: trainers are fine. We provide everything else you need including mallets and balls. Our clubhouse has changing rooms and toilets.
We encourage visitors to come along to one of our informal club sessions. These take place on Tuesday afternoons, when we play the simpler version of the game called Golf Croquet, and Sunday afternoons when we play Golf Croquet and also the more traditional form of the game called Association Croquet. Members will be ready to introduce you to the game. The session generally lasts for up to three hours, but visitors are free to leave when they wish. We charge £5 per person for those over 16 for the session. There is no charge for younger children, but we do not have mallets for those under about 12.
If you would like to come to one of these sessions please phone us on 0845 250 4394. We need at least 72 hours' notice so that we can ensure that someone is there to welcome you.
If you would prefer to come on your own or in your own party you can book a lawn for pay and play for up to four people. A member will be present to let you into the club and explain the game. Lawns are generally available every weekday from 12 noon until dusk and sometimes also on Saturdays. We charge £50 per lawn for two hours. Again please email or phone us if you would like to do this, and give us a week’s notice.
If you want to come in a bigger group see the section on group social events.
If you enjoy your visit and would like to play more croquet you can join the club either temporarily or as a full member: see the section on joining the club.
If you want to come and play bowls, either in a small group or a larger party, see the separate section on bowls.
